CCG has always been committed to training and developing young people. Our year-on-year commitment to skills replenishment secures the long-term success of the CCG Group and is integral to the future of the Scottish construction industry. We believe our apprenticeship programme, which presently employs 70 tradespeople across the CCG Group, acts as a solid foundation for our young people to learn, progress and ultimately forge a strong career in the construction industry.
CCG offers a 4-year programme for those 16 and above across trades such as:
Each programme will provide our apprentices with as broad a reach as possible about their chosen craft and, alongside their trainers, are immediately given an understanding about the day-to-day operations of a construction site. CCG operates across a wide variety of sectors, ensuring that our apprentices are given a greater understanding about different kinds of projects.
Our Annual Apprentice Intake takes place every summer and this year, CCG took on 22 new trade apprentices, including five joiners, five plumbers and seven bricklayers that work within the Construction division as well as three electricians, a heating engineer, and a plumber who are based with CCG Group member, Arc-Tech.
CCG obtained the coveted Investors in Young People Gold Accreditation in 2015, which is a people management standard that focuses on an employer’s recruitment and retention of young people. This represents a true commitment to the training and development of young people and demonstrates CCG as an employer of choice for young people and testament to our effective practices around Youth Employment. The Group can proudly say that it has retained this standard for 2016/17.
