CCG is set to transform an iconic historic stable block in Glasgow’s prestigious Merchant City area into 52 mid-market flats for social rent.
Working on behalf of Glasgow Housing Association and funded by the Scottish Government, Bell Street will involve the restoration of the traditional façade of the Bell Street Stables – a category B listed building which was originally used by the city’s cleansing department to accommodate horses and carts used by workers to clean the streets in the 19th century.
In addition to creating modern, energy efficient accommodation original fitments will also be reused to maintain the historical character of the building including original stable doors which will be incorporated into the exterior, and the stable blocks themselves being transformed into cycle storage units. Meanwhile the internal cobblestone flooring will be lifted and used to re-surface the new outdoor courtyard area.

Managed by Lowther Homes, also part of Wheatley Group, the flats at Bell Street will be available by summer-2018.
