Building Futures

CCG has complete construction on a new West Lothian Development Alliance development of 12 accessible cottage flats for affordable rent on Foulshiels Road in Stoneyburn. Almond Housing Association developed the homes on behalf of the Alliance and ownership of the properties has now been transferred to landlord Horizon Housing Association.

The flats have all been allocated by Horizon Housing Association and customised to meet individual particular needs. The new tenants have keys for their brand new homes and will be comfortably settled in time for Christmas.

The 12 homes are designed to suit people with a range of needs and two are built to full wheelchair standard.  All the flats have inclusive design features, offering flexibility and adaptability particularly for people with age or health-related conditions. The properties also benefit from “Silver Standard” energy efficiency levels with the installation of photovoltaic (solar) panels. Financial support for the development is being provided by Scottish Government, Horizon and West Lothian Council.

Tenants started moving into their brand new homes this week and the feedback so far has been very positive.

Julia Fitzpatrick, Horizon’s Managing Director said: “Horizon has provided additional resources to enable this project to proceed and to help enhance the design specifications, part of our overall commitment to increasing the supply of accessible homes. As part of the Alliance, we are delighted to be bringing new social rented homes to the community of Stoneyburn and wish our new tenants a very happy first Christmas in their new home.”

Speaking on behalf of the West Lothian Development Alliance, George Webster Almond Housing Association’s Chief Executive said “This development is the latest of a number of top quality building projects we have completed over the last few years. Working in partnership with West Lothian Council and the Scottish Government we have been able to provide local communities with much needed affordable homes. We will continue to seek opportunities to add to our stock of excellent housing for rent in West Lothian.”

Foulshiels Road is the second development to have been delivered on behalf of Almond Housing Association having completed Forth Court, Livingston, earlier this year. Each development was constructed using CCG OSM’s iQ closed panel timber frame system ensuring quality, enhanced thermal efficiency and a faster speed of construction.

Calum Murray, Director of CCG, said: “CCG’s specialism in off-site manufacturing has ensured that these homes have been delivered to the highest quality standard whilst the excellent thermal properties of our timber system will offer long-term energy savings for residents. A faster speed of construction has ensured residents have entered their homes much faster than if the development was built traditionally – Foulshiels Road was constructed wind and watertight in just 4 weeks.

We would like to thank WLDA for their continued support during the build and we hope we can work together again in the future.”
