Building Futures

A development of 24 new flats for Council tenants has been completed by CCG on behalf of Perth & Kinross Council.

The new blocks at a key site on Crieff Road, Perth, are made up of high-quality two-bedroom flats for affordable social rent. Three of the six ground-floor flats have been designed to be suitable for tenants with mobility issues.

The development has been delivered in partnership and procured through the Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA), a relationship that has seen the delivery of 84 homes across the region since 2016

The Council’s Convener of Housing and Communities, Councillor Peter Barrett, visited the site today (Thursday 28th  February) to meet some of the new tenants.

He said:

“It’s fantastic to see these new flats completed. They will provide much-needed two-bedroomed accommodation for tenants, and it was great to talk to some of them here today. This new housing will provide people with safe and secure places to live, at rents they can afford. Our existing tenants repeatedly tell us that adding to our stock of Council housing is one of their highest priorities.

“The new flats occupy a prominent site on Crieff Road and I’m delighted the Council was able to purchase the land for this development. The build can be seen as an important part of the redevelopment of this area of Perth, with the A9/A85 road project now also complete.

“The Council is committed to delivering additional affordable accommodation for people across Perth and Kinross and we will continue to identify sites where we can build new social housing.”

CCG Director, Calum Murray added:

“CCG is delighted to continue our partnership with Perth and Kinross Council to deliver this new development. The project was constructed using ‘offsite’ methods by utilising CCG’s ‘iQ’ timber frame system to ensure deliver improved quality standards, environmental performance and speed of build.

“We are also delighted to confirm that as a result of this project, CCG provided two new jobs as well as donating £300 to a local nursery that contributed to the buying of materials and supplies.”
