A new housing development at Carskeoch Drive, Patna has officially welcomed its new residents.
The site, which was previously occupied by Patna Resource Centre, features 19 high-quality, energy-efficient homes for rent, in a range of sizes and types, and includes two specially designed homes for wheelchair users with integral carports.
New tenant, Janice Graham was delighted to welcome a small group of visitors from East Ayrshire Council and CCG into their new home.
She said: “I love my new home, it took a bit of getting used to but I know I will be happy here. The kitchen is beautiful and a lot bigger than in my previous home, I can even fit in table and chairs. The house is easy to look after with a garden that is also easy to maintain.”
Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the Council was joined by Councillor Elena Whitham, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, local members Councillor Drew Filson and Councillor Elaine Dinwoodie on the visit to the new houses.
Councillor Reid: “Throughout East Ayrshire we are building new homes in our towns and villages, transforming the lives of tenants and regenerating areas which have lain empty for many years.
“Creating affordable homes, supporting the local building industry and creating jobs for local people; the housing building programme within East Ayrshire is changing both lives and the local townscape.
“We are very grateful to Janice for allowing us to visit her new home– we hope they will be very happy living in Carskeoch Drive.”
The development was built by CCG in partnership with East Ayrshire Council forming part of an ambitious plan to construct over 400 affordable homes over the next 3 years.
Patna itself is one of three projects to have been completed since 2018 with Cassillis Court (11 homes) and Andrew Nisbet Place (13 homes) whilst works continue at Tinto Avenue in Kilmarnock (67 homes) and David Dale in Stewarton (34 homes).
Calum Murray, Director of CCG, said: “The strategic partnership between ourselves and East Ayrshire Council really does take us across the region and with Carskeoch Avenue; we have a unique proposition for the future residents with a housing solution tailored to the resident’s needs set within a very scenic backdrop.
“The development brings much-needed affordable homes to Patna whilst the collaboration between CCG and East Ayrshire Council has also delivered one new full-time job, one trade apprenticeship and supported locally-based organisations in the form of a £5,000 donation.”
All the homes, which are being delivered through the Scottish Procurement Alliance, meet Housing for Varying Needs, Secure by Design standards and Silver Standard accreditation.
The project received £1.4m in grant funding from the Scottish Government.
