The Schoolhouse, a stunning mixed tenure development located in Niddrie Mill, Edinburgh, has been shortlisted for Private Housing Development of the Year by the Structural Timber Awards.
Comprising of 66 homes, the development is situated on the grounds of the former Niddrie Mill Primary School and involved the construction of two, three-storey blocks of flats consisting of 28 for mid-market rent for Places for People and 6 for Social Rent for Castle Rock/Edinvar. The private housing element of the site includes 32 Private for Sale properties that were also constructed in a mix of flats and houses by CCG Homes which includes a block of 17 apartments carefully constructed behind the retained Schoolhouse façade and three blocks of two storey terraced housing.
The development was recently awarded Affordable Housing Development of the Year by the Scottish Home Awards where CCG was praised for the preservation of heritage and affordability of the private homes. More information on the project can be found HERE.
The Structural Timber Awards are due to take place on October 10 alongside the Timber Expo at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. For more information on this year’s finalists, CLICK HERE.
