DUNDASHILL PLOT 3A, GLASGOW

Dundashill is a Transformational Regeneration Area located north of Glasgow’s city centre that is currently being extensively re-developed to deliver low-carbon, energy-efficient homes.

One such plot of the 600-home, mixed-use Dundashill Regeneration Masterplan is Scotland’s largest Passivhaus-accredited development, Plot 3A.

Formally handed over to West Scot Lettings, a newly set up subsidiary of West of Scotland Housing Association (WOSHA), the project comprises 90 mid-market rent housing units, including 4-storey blocks of flats and a 7-storey landmark building that offers panoramic views across the city. The homes are built to Passivhaus standard, with low carbon air source heat pump technology which reduces the building’s carbon footprint and contributes towards the Scottish Government’s target for emissions from heating buildings to reach net zero by 2045.

Dundashill is a former distillery site of approximately 27 acres located in the Port Dundas area of Glasgow, immediately north of the city centre. The neighbourhood is fast gaining prominence as an alternative, creative destination where urban adventure activities blend with a strong arts and cultural presence. The growth of a new community will be supported by a kick-starter programme, curated by a local community interest company set up to explore and promote social approaches to city development.

The development was constructed entirely using the CCG ‘iQ’ Timber System. Integrated with enhanced specification, including triple-glazed windows also manufactured by CCG, the homes will deliver enhanced airtightness characteristics to ensure residents require little to no heating and, as a result, benefit from vastly reduced annual fuel bills.

Dundashill is one of two Passivhaus developments to have been delivered for WOSHA in as many years following the completion of Springfield Cross in the east end of Glasgow in autumn 2022.
