Located in Broughton, plans were approved to regenerate the site (which once belonged to bowling greens) in November 2021 with the creation of 27 one and two-bedroom flats for the elderly as well as a 128-space early learning centre.
The single, ‘intergenerational’ building is a first for the local authority, helping to serve 2-5-year-olds as well as the local St Mark’s Primary School as well as providing much-needed accommodation for the elderly in the form of fully accessible and wheelchair adapted properties. The enhanced, Passivhaus standard of build will also be a first for the city as Edinburgh transitions towards becoming net zero by 2030.
Designed by Collective Architecture, CCG is set to formally commence construction in autumn-2022.
