TRAINEE ESTIMATOR

CCG is looking for a Trainee Estimator to join our busy Estimating Department and assist with our widespread tendering activities across the group.

The key role involves providing support in dealing with tender opportunities throughout the estimating cycle. You will be reporting directly to the Estimating Manager and liaise with all other functional departments within the organisation for input and support where required

The ideal candidate will have experience in a main contracting environment with a good understanding of Estimating principles as well as market trends and costs. Strong interpersonal and reporting skills plus good all-around IT capabilities are a must.

Experience in Conquest or a similar estimating software would be advantageous.

A meticulous approach to your work is necessary – along with being able to work to tight deadlines.

Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full time, Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm with core flexible hours available.
Location: CCG HQ, 1 Cambuslang Road, Cambuslang Investment Park, Glasgow G32 8NB. This is not a hybrid working role.
Status: Permanent

The Role 

  • Review of tender documentation
  • Assist in gaining quotations from sub-contractors; analysis and negotiation of best value offers
  • Assist with the creation of pricing documentation, and take-off/quantification requirements, for internal and external parties
  • Assist with reviewing ambiguities in tender documents and respond to queries from sub-contractors.
  • Assist with compiling full tender price information including preliminaries and work sections.
  • Assist in highlighting areas where added value can be created.
  • Liaison with client base & design team members.
  • Attend internal meetings.

Skills

  • Full driving licence is essential.
  • Experience in a main contracting environment
  • Good understanding of estimating principles, market trends & costs.
  • Strong interpersonal and reporting skills.
  • Good all round IT capabilities – essential.
