DOLLAR ACADEMY, CLACKMANNANSHIRE

Sitting at the foot of the Ochil Hills in Clackmannanshire is the Westwater Student Pavilion building that resides on the grounds of the prestigious Dollar Academy School campus.

Designed by Page Park Architects, the building is home to 10 classrooms across two floors for students studying in the field of modern languages. The narrow plot embeds the classrooms into the slope of the site, with ventilation into each through expressed vertical chimney stacks with views across the all-weather hockey pitch provided thanks to a bold, cantilevering glass circulation viewing gallery which sits above a sheltered ground floor passage.

The material palette of facing brick and timber cladding was chosen to reflect the adjacent Category A Listed Playfair building of the campus as well as being respectful to the surrounding characteristics of the school campus and the wider town of Dollar. The theme continues inside leading to a focal stair and a stunning flooring detail that is complemented upon entering the classroom with each befitting of a light, airy environment integrated with modern teaching equipment and appliances.

CCG’s in-house flooring installer, Hampton & Steel, carpets for all classrooms.
