CCG PROJECTS WIN SCOTTISH DESIGN AWARDS

North Gate continues to receive industry acclaim as the project is announced as a winner of a prestigious Scottish Design Award.

A highlight for the awards season, the ceremony “showcases boundless creativity from unsung maestros to industry heavyweights” and is open to all architects, engineers, and graphic, interior and digital designers.

Nominated in the Affordable Housing category and a winner of the GOLD award, North Gate is a leading example of architectural design; one that has transformed vacant brownfield land with a new city landmark and completes the Gorbals Crown Street masterplan after thirty years of regeneration.

Constructed by CCG on behalf of New Gorbals Housing Association, the project was designed by Page/Park Architects and consists of 31 units, comprising of 1 and 2-bedroom flats for social rent. Conceived as a series of towers, the building splays out to maximise the potential compact site area ensuring all flats are either dual or triple aspect, providing natural light internally and considerable views across the city.

A fantastic development, the award is the second won by Page/Park after receiving a GIA (Glasgow Institute of Architects) accolade in 2022.

Another winner on the day was Queens Quay and MAST Architects who scooped a SILVER award in the Regeneration category for Queens Quay. The 146-home development forms part of the large-scale, mixed-use regeneration of the former John Brown Shipyard in Clydebank and was delivered by CCG on behalf of Loretto, a member of Wheatley Group; West Dunbartonshire Council and Clydebank Housing Association.

The project is located near to a second CCG contract in the form of Queens Quay House, an 82-home care home that was delivered on behalf of West Dunbartonshire Council. The projects are served by a hugely innovative water source district heating network that powers the wider masterplan and wider residences in Clydebank. One of the most innovative, renewable networks of its kind in the UK, the energy centre was officially opened in 2022.
