The West Craigs Masterplan is one of the largest mixed-tenure regeneration projects under construction in central Scotland.
Comprising a mix of both affordable and private housing developments, it is significantly supporting the supply of new homes west of the city centre.
Wheatley Homes East, a member of one of the UK’s leading housing management companies Wheatley Group, is responsible for the delivery of 425 homes in the masterplan.
This latest project, Plot 13, consists of 125 two, three and four-bedroom homes for social and mid-market rent.
The project has been supported by The Scottish Government through the City of Edinburgh Council and is being constructed by CCG (Scotland), one of Scotland’s largest construction and manufacturing groups.
Director of Development and Regeneration at Wheatley Group, Lindsay Lauder said:
“The progress being made at West Craigs Plot 13 is fantastic. It’s a huge project, providing a variety of accommodation covering a range of our tenants’ needs.
“We look forward to the first phase being completed by the end of this year.”
CCG Managing Director David Wylie, said:
“I am delighted with the progress our construction team has made it to date and it is great to see how the development will integrate with the wider masterplan which is hugely significant for west Edinburgh and the wider city region.
West Craigs Plot 13 is one of four developments, contributing over 300 mixed-tenure homes, on-site with Wheatley and their subsidiary divisions across the Central Belt.
Each development is being constructed using advanced building methods that will deliver leading energy efficiency standards whilst our partnership will also deliver a legacy of job creation and investment with West Craigs alone enabling the delivery of 10 new jobs, 8 trade apprenticeships and 13 work placements as a result of the project.
A further £96,000 will be donated to the Wheatley Foundation to be distributed to community-based causes.
We thank Wheatley Homes East for their continued support and look forward to handing over the first homes later this year.”
