CLYDE AND CALDER TOWERS, EAST KILBRIDE

Clyde and Calder Towers are located in the town centre of East Kilbride and form part of a large-scale stock improvement programme presently being undertaken by CCG in South Lanarkshire.

Reaching sixteen storeys, each tower block [and resident within] has received replacement FD60 Timber Flat Entrance Doors whilst new common doors, including stairwell, storage and main access, have also been installed to improve safety standards during an emergency.

Completed in early-2023, the towers are two of nine across the region that have had replacement doors installed on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council. Totalling over 600 residents, their enhanced specification will deliver up to 60 minutes of protection and prevent the passage of fire and smoke, supporting residents and emergency service personnel.

The engineered timber material acts as a natural fire break whilst the use of incumbents prevents the passage of smoke. Automatic closing systems also ensure that even when opened, the door will always close shut.

The contract was undertaken on a full supply and fit basis via CCG Manufacturing and Asset Management, delivered within a 16-week, on-site programme, and procured by Scottish Procurement Alliance.
