Delivered on behalf of Port of Leith Housing Association, the project comprises 104 one-and-two-bedroom homes available for mid-market and social rent. The housing mix consists of flatted accommodation as well as two-storey duplexes, supporting larger family tenancy, that are contained within a masterplan of two blocks reaching 4 storeys in order to create frontage to the north and east and along the harbour-side.
A sense of place is created through a mix of open, private amenity and green space identifiable via a large courtyard that lies at the centre of the development that is created with a contemporary mix of hard and soft landscaping. Additional amenity is also afforded to selected upper-floor plots with the provision of large viewing balconies offering stunning views of the sea.
The development was constructed using a lightweight steel frame integrated with CCG’s ‘iQ’ Timber System utilised for wall zones. All internal, flat entrance and common doors were also designed and manufactured by CCG.
Heron Place is one of two developments located at the Harbour supported by CCG as works continue to be progressed on 304 homes for Port of Leith Housing Association. Both projects are complemented by a further 600+ net zero or low carbon homes that will be delivered in Granton over the next 2 years including Scotland’s largest net zero carbon development, Western VIllages.
